The two-bottle starter set for a serious home bar. Our Bar Cart Essentials 2-pack pairs the two syrups Anders Erickson reaches for most often — Grenadine and Falernum — both made in collaboration with him and built on real ingredients (not corn syrup and red dye). Add bourbon, gin, rum, tequila, or whatever's on your shelf, and you've got the foundation for dozens of classic and modern cocktails.

Use Grenadine for Tequila Sunrises, Jack Roses, French 75s, and Shirley Temples. Use Falernum for Mai Tais, Corn 'n Oils, Painkillers, and any tiki cocktail worth making. The two complement each other surprisingly well: Grenadine brings the pomegranate-rose depth, Falernum brings the lime-spice-almond brightness — and a few cocktails (like a great Mai Tai variation) call for both.

What's Inside
  • Grenadine: A traditional rose-and-pomegranate grenadine made from the original 1800s recipe — no corn syrup or red dye. Built for Tequila Sunrises, Jack Roses, French 75s, and Shirley Temples.
  • Falernum: A craft Caribbean falernum with real lime, baking spices, ginger, and almond — the secret ingredient in Mai Tais, Corn 'n Oils, Painkillers, and dozens of other tiki classics.

The Short Version: A 2-pack of Anders Erickson's two cocktail essentials — traditional Grenadine and Caribbean Falernum — the foundation for great classic and tiki cocktails at home.

Perfect For: Cocktail enthusiasts building a home bar, gift recipients who already love mixology, Anders Erickson fans, and anyone tired of bottled cocktail mixes.

Best Enjoyed In: Jack Roses and Tequila Sunrises (Grenadine), Mai Tais and Painkillers (Falernum), and any classic cocktail recipe that calls for either.

The Portland Syrups Promise: Ethically sourced, carefully brewed, and bottled in glass jars right here in SE Portland, Oregon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long do the syrups last after opening?
A: Our syrups are shelf-stable for 24 months unopened. Once opened, refrigerate and enjoy within 6 months.

Q: Why is this 2-pack the right choice for a home bar?
A: Because these are the two syrups most home bartenders are missing. Grenadine shows up in dozens of classic cocktails (Tequila Sunrise, Jack Rose, El Diablo, French 75 variations, Shirley Temple) but most home bars rely on Rose's, which is corn syrup and food coloring. Falernum shows up in tiki cocktails (Mai Tai, Painkiller, Corn 'n Oil) but most home bars skip it entirely. Replacing both with real-ingredient versions immediately improves dozens of drinks at once — which is why this is the 2-pack Anders Erickson reaches for first.

Q: What spirits should I have on hand to use these?
A: For Grenadine: tequila (for Tequila Sunrises), applejack or bourbon (for Jack Roses), gin or vodka (for spritzes), and sparkling wine (for French 75s and brunch cocktails). For Falernum: aged rum (for Mai Tais and Painkillers), blackstrap rum (for Corn 'n Oils), bourbon or rye (for fall variations), and gin (for tropical twists). Between the two syrups and a basic spirit shelf, you can make 30+ classic and modern cocktails.

better than what you asked for

I had been looking for Falernum in my local area a no one knew what the heck it was! Next thing I know Anders if posting about his collab. I immediately went to the website and ordered.
I am not disappointed. The set came quickly and well wrapped.
I made my first cocktail with them that night and it was fantastic. The taste is great, smooth and mixes well.
Not to mention that the bottles are very nice glass and will be great for repurposing. I mean is there a 6-star option?

Fabulous taste!

Delicious, complex flavor profiles that are multi-use. I've used them with sparkling water, club soda, and in my baking and cooking.

Grenadine was ok

Grenadine has a weird taste and off color that’s not quite red like pomegranate.

Falernum was much better.

Perfect balance

These are two of my favorite syrups. The grenadine is really thick, but it has a great flavor. Not too sweet. The falernum is a new flavor combination for me, but the spices balance the citrus perfectly.

What’s a falernum?

A very tasty Caribbean lime and spice syrup, is what it tastes like.
The grenadine was also delicious.
I recommend both, and try The Barbados Cocktail to test out the Falernum!
It’s going to be a summer staple.

Love the Syrups!

This grenadine is second to none. And I don’t really want to make my own anymore. Plus, Anders’ Shrunken Skull recipe on the side is perfect. It’s a regular request with friends.

I tried a different Falernum before and didn’t like it or the drink I made with it. I really like your Falernum. The flavors are really balanced and harmonious.

Depth of Flavor

The Grenadine has a deep and rich pomegranate flavor, and makes cocktails taste way better than the bright red stuff you can get at grocery stores. I've used this grenadine for about two years, and don't ever want to go back to the other stuff.
The Falernum is new to me, but also has a deep flavor profile that I've already enjoyed in cocktails.

Both the Grenadine and Falernum have great depth and complexity and improve almost any cocktail.

Great Products!

Very happy with these two syrups. The Grenedine can compete with homemade versions, and the Falernum is really quite nice. I'm used to using a liquor version I can get at the store, but I really like this one better. Stronger flavors than what I've used before, which I really appreciate. Overall very happy with them.

It’s going to be a tiki fall!!

The falernum was quite the surprise and what a versatile syrup. Seems to work with every alcohol. Haven’t had a chance yet to try the grenadine, but the night is still young…
