Apple Manhattan

A Manhattan turned orchard-sweet. Rye keeps the backbone spicy and dry, while Apple Crisp Syrup rounds the edges with a whisper of baked apple. Stir it cold, strain it clean, and it's ready in five minutes.

At a glance

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Glassware: Coupe or chilled cocktail glass

Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye whiskey (recommended over bourbon for a spicier, drier contrast)
  • ½ oz dry vermouth
  • ¼ oz sweet vermouth
  • ½ oz Apple Crisp Syrup
  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters
  • Ice
  • 1 brandied cherry, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Add the rye whiskey, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth, Apple Crisp Syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir smoothly for 20 to 30 seconds, until the glass turns frosty and cold.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a brandied cherry.
