This is grenadine as it's supposed to be. We worked with bartender Anders Erickson on a recipe that gets back to the original: real pomegranate puree blended with rose petals and buds (the traditional 1800s recipe), with a touch of brown sugar for depth. The result tastes like the cocktails of a hundred years ago when grenadine wasn't a synonym for "red food coloring in corn syrup."

Stir half an ounce into a Tequila Sunrise and you'll realize what that cocktail was supposed to taste like. Splash it into bourbon for a Jack Rose. Mix it with sparkling water and lime for a Shirley Temple kids will fight over. Add it to French 75s, Tom Collinses, or any cocktail that calls for grenadine — and notice that the drink tastes deeper and less candy-sweet than you remember.

Tasting Notes: real pomegranate, soft rose petal lift, brown sugar warmth, gentle tart finish

The Short Version: A traditional rose-and-pomegranate grenadine made in collaboration with bartender Anders Erickson — the original 1800s recipe restored to working order, with no corn syrup or red dye in sight.

Ingredients: Filtered water, organic cane sugar, brown sugar, pomegranate puree, rose petals and buds, organic pomegranate concentrate, citric acid.

Perfect For: Classic cocktail purists, Tequila Sunrise drinkers, Shirley Temple makers, history-minded mixologists, Anders Erickson fans, and anyone who's wondered why old cocktail books treat grenadine like a serious ingredient.

Best Enjoyed In: Tequila Sunrises (½ oz syrup + tequila + OJ), Jack Roses (¾ oz + applejack + lemon), Shirley Temples (½ oz + Sprite), French 75 variations, or 1 oz syrup + 6 oz sparkling water for a rose-pomegranate soda.

The Portland Syrups Promise: Ethically sourced, carefully brewed, and bottled in glass jars right here in SE Portland, Oregon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does the syrup last after opening?
A: Our syrups are shelf-stable for 24 months unopened. Once opened, refrigerate and enjoy within 6 months.

Q: What's the difference between Grenadine and your Pomegranate Cherry Syrup?
A: Both are pomegranate-based syrups that work in classic cocktails. The difference: Grenadine is the traditional version — pomegranate and rose petals only, following the 1800s recipe that predates modern commercial grenadine. Pomegranate Cherry adds sweet cherry puree on top of the pomegranate for a deeper, jammier, Pacific Northwest spin. If you want a true historical grenadine for classic cocktails, choose Grenadine. If you want more cherry richness and depth, choose Pomegranate Cherry.

Q: What is real grenadine made of?
A: Traditionally, grenadine was pomegranate juice or puree mixed with sugar and a hint of orange flower water or rose — that's it. The "grenadine" you find on most grocery store shelves (Rose's being the most famous) is actually corn syrup, citric acid, artificial flavoring, and red dye — no pomegranate in sight. Our Grenadine sticks to the original formula: real pomegranate, real rose, real cane sugar. The result tastes deeper, less candy-sweet, and noticeably more complex than what you remember from a bottled mixer.

Love the Grenadine!

This was my second purchase of the Anders collab grenadine and has been a premium ingredient in my home bar. I enjoy Ander’s work on YouTube so I’m happy to this collaboration working so well!

Truly Fantastic Grenadine

I have been a fan of Anders Erickson for a while. When I saw that his grenadine was going to be produced in bottles from Portland syrups and sold I had to try some. Very pleased. The cocktails I’ve made with it are delicious and full of flavor. Great job and I’ve been recommending it to everyone else that loves cocktails. Pictured is the Mexican firing squad cocktail I made when I first got the bottle. So great!

I'm impressed with the Grenadine. I've followed Anders on YouTube and I'm not very good at cooking so when his Grenadine syrup came out, I knew it would be top notch.

A Symphony of Flavor!

What an extraordinary grenadine! It’s so good!

This grenadine strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and tartness, creating a harmony that dances on your palate. The rose aroma and flavors are nothing short of sensational, adding a floral elegance that elevates any drink. Having made my own grenadine, I can confidently say this surpasses all expectations. If you’re contemplating a purchase, don’t hesitate - try it, and you’ll be delighted by the transformation it brings to your beverages.

Thank you Anders! I’m a big fan of your YouTube, keep up the awesome content!

A revelation

After only trying and hating the bright red artificial type, this grenadine was a revelation. Just the right level of sweetness and real fruit flavor. A perfect way to make great cocktails.

Portland Syrups are a Game Changer

Since switching to Anders’ Grenadine (and the Brown Sugar Simple Syrup, and Falernum), we have lifted our cocktail game considerably. Who knew that Grenadine has actual flavor, and is not just red syrup? :-)

Actual grenadine

The Anders collection grenadine created with Portland Syrups is fantastic! It’s the real deal, unlike that rose-colored stuff we get in the stores. Great products, great service, too.

This was a repeat order for me. I use the grenadine in various cocktails and it’s the best tasting grenadine I’ve found.

Taste and ingredients

Normally when people refer their own products it’s generally to make some money. This time, not so much. This Grenadine is by far the best that I’ve tased. It’s super thicc, made with simple ingredients and most importantly…is missing that accursed red dye #4 that is apparently in everything we eat. This one has. Depth in flavor that I didn’t expect in comparison to the one I previously used.

Because of how good this was I will definitely be trying out some of the other syrups.

Wow!

I ordered several flavors at once and I have really enjoyed all of them. The Myers lemon is so yummy. I don’t particularly enjoy the grenadine flavor profile. I wouldn’t reorder that one! But all the rest definitely!

Not my favorite, but…

Bought this for my daughter. She has been ordering Shirley Temple’s when she eats out and so I thought she might like to try this. It was a little too sweet for me. She hasn’t been home since it arrived so I’m not sure about her verdict yet!

Grenadine

I searched for a nice quality grenadine for a Galentine's Day I was hosting. The teenage girls in my neighborhood look forward to it yearly and I just couldn't buy the one at the local grocery store that contained high fructose corn syrup! Food is my love language and I couldn't offer poison Shirely temples to them so I stumbled upon this website and wow! The bottle is beautiful and it's the most delicious grenadine I've ever had! Thank you for crafting something that doesn't need all the chemicals in order to be pretty, delicious and not harmful! 🩷

Genuine pomegranate syrup

A little darker than other grenadine syrup because it’s authentic. First bottle was a little off tasting and they immediately replaced it. Second one is fantastic!!

Grenadine for mocktails!

I've tried a couple other grenadines, but I do quite like this one! It's thick and more of a amber-brown-red color rather than blood-red, but it's got a nice rounded flavor suitable for mocktails with 0abv apertifs as well as a basic Shirley temple. Would get again!

Not hype . . ..

I heard about this product via YouTube. I was skeptical. I assumed he was just a paid shill. This stuff is legit. It makes my cocktails taste 10,000% better. No joke. I order by the six pack now. Shill or not, that YouTuber told the truth. It’s great.
